Words are powerful and transforming.

In immersions, I use methods of writing from the body. The technique of integrating movement with free-writing allows participants to delve deep into the psyche. The initial work relies on felt experience. Writing from the body is subjective and personal. In the movement of writing, participants follow impulses of the body and stray from conventional forms of writing into truths that may be less familiar and appear as fragments, before words and phrasing influence perception.

Only later—alone at a desk, in bed, morning or night—does the work of writing take place apart from any physical practice, integrating conscious and subconscious, subjective and objective, internal and external to develop a cohesive narrative.

We are meaning making creatures. What we tell and how we language ourselves determines the words and ideas that flock to us. Writing, in conjunction with somatic awareness, can liberate us, shifting the way we experience and define ourselves, giving insight and full expression.

Combining moving with writing and deep listening engenders neural integration, strengthens synaptic connections and forges new neural pathways. It’s a mindfulness technique that emphasizes body awareness and imagination.

In the process, participants discover how words inhabit and shape us. Your matter, your breath, your seeing, your feeling, your words and your stories are essential.

For each person, the journey is unique. All that’s required is a willingness to explore and curiosity to experiment. Once the work is complete, it can be adopted as a practice autonomously.
